Is traditional talk therapy just not
cutting it
anymore?

You’ve done the work, built insight, and learned the usual coping skills, but your body still feels on edge. You find yourself being reactive or stuck in the same patterns that didn’t work for your own parents. Many of my clients come to me after years of weekly talk therapy, CBT, or short-term counseling and realize that understanding their trauma isn’t the same as healing it.

Therapy intensives are designed for people who desire deeper trauma treatment, nervous system regulation, and therapies like EMDR and Brainspotting. These are approaches research has proven work with how trauma is stored in the body and brain, greatly reducing or even mitigating some of the things you are currently experiencing. Therapy intensives allow for meaningful change that often isn’t possible in a standard 50-minute therapy hour.

01

Pre-Intensive
Assessment

This is where we slow things down and spend some time understanding what’s bringing you here, what you’ve already tried, and what your nervous system needs in order to feel safe enough to do meaningful work. We’ll work together to clarify goals, identify what types of therapies will be used, and create a plan that is uniquely yours so the intensive feels intentional rather than overwhelming. It’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out when you come into this session. That’s why we work as a team!

02

Intensive
Session

This is the main event! Extended sessions allow us to move beyond the day to day stressors and into the deeper patterns that keep showing up in your life. There’s no need for rushing or stopping just as things get meaningful. We’ll work at a pace your nervous system can handle. I’ll support your process by using the agreed upon approaches such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and parts-work. These evidence-informed therapies support lasting change. Many clients describe this phase as focused, safely immersive, and greatly relieving.

03

Post-Intensive
Follow-Up

A follow-up session takes place about 2 weeks later and gives us the opportunity to reflect on what you noticed has shifted or settled for you. We will also make sense of any other changes you’ve noticed since the intensive session. We’ll spend some time talking through next steps, which will include ensuring you are linked up with a therapist for ongoing support and understand how to care for your nervous system as it continues to recalibrate. I want you to feel supported and clear on what your next steps will be.

How does a therapy intensive work?

Consider this…

Megan (Traditional Weekly Therapy)

Cost: $2,400 for 12 weekly sessions (45 minutes each)

Megan is a high-achieving professional and mom to a toddler. On the outside, she manages everything in her life including work, parenting, and relationships. But internally she finds herself feeling constantly tense, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted. She notices herself becoming reactive under stress, struggling to rest, and slipping into patterns she swore she would never repeat.

She wants to:

  • Heal unresolved trauma that still lives in her body

  • Feel calmer and less reactive under stress

  • Respond to her child from a state of calm presence instead of overwhelm

  • Break generational patterns before they’re passed on

  • Experience real relief rather than focusing on insight and skill building

She doesn’t want more coping strategies. She wants real, lasting change.

But with the demands of daily life, therapy often feels rushed and fragmented.

Weekly Session Reality:

  • 1 therapy session per week, 45 minutes each

  • Time needed to mentally transition into session after a full day

  • Time needed to regulate and prepare to return to responsibilities

  • Sessions often focus on immediate stressors, parenting demands, or exhaustion

Average time available for deep trauma processing:
About 20–25 minutes per session

Total deep processing time over 12 weeks:
About 3–4 hours of meaningful therapeutic work

What this experience is like for Megan

She begins to open something important… then time runs out.
Her nervous system activates… then she has to pause, stuff everything back down, and leave.
A full week passes before she can return to the work.

She sees progress happening, but it is slow and in pieces.

Meanwhile, daily life keeps moving:

  • Parenting decisions still feel emotionally charged

  • Stress responses still feel automatic

  • Old patterns still show up when she’s tired or overwhelmed

She’s committed to healing, using positive coping skills, and changing patterns that don’t support who she wants to be, but it’s hard to build momentum when the work starts and stops every week.

Megan (One-Day Therapy Intensive)

Cost: $2,500 for one dedicated 6-hour intensive

Megan sets aside one protected day to focus fully on what she truly wants to change versus trying to find a spot in her schedule week after week for a therapy appointment.

Her goals are the same, but now the structure supports them.

For the first time, she has uninterrupted space to work toward those goals without rushing, pausing, or restarting.

Intensive Therapy Reality

  • One dedicated 6-hour therapeutic experience

  • Time for the nervous system to fully settle before deep work begins

  • Sustained trauma processing without interruption

  • Built-in pacing, breaks, and grounding

  • Time for integration before returning to daily life

No weekly reset.
No emotional whiplash of opening and stopping.
No competing demands pulling attention away from the work.

Average time available for deep trauma processing:
About 4–5 hours of meaningful therapeutic work
Plus an additional 90 minute follow up session to further support integration and determine next steps in her healing journey

Total deep processing time:
Equivalent to months of weekly therapy all completed in one focused, supported day.

What this experience is like for Megan

Her body has time to settle enough to fully engage.
Patterns become clearer because the work is continuous.
Processing completes instead of pausing mid-way.

She leaves with:

  • A noticeable reduction in emotional intensity

  • Greater internal calm and stability

  • More capacity to respond instead of react

  • A felt sense that something has genuinely shifted

Instead of managing symptoms, she begins resolving what created them in the first place.

What this means in daily life

Parenting feels more grounded.
Stress feels more manageable.
Triggers feel less powerful.
Her nervous system has more room to breathe.

She’s not just understanding herself better, she’s experiencing herself differently.

You do not have to keep managing what you are ready to resolve

The Core Difference

In 12 weeks of weekly therapy, Megan may receive about 2.5–3 hours of deep trauma processing.

In one therapy intensive, she receives 4–5 hours of focused processing in a single supported experience.

One approach spreads healing across time, while the other safely accelerates it with intention and laser focus.
